Precision Reference Specimens
Precision reference specimens are surfaces with specially-machined roughness profiles that are used to calibrate or check various features of a surface measuring instrument. Different types of specimens are used to check different aspects or features of a surface measuring system. Contacting stylus-type instruments are standardised in ISO 3274 and specimens are standardised in ISO 5436 where they are referred to as measurement standards. Any of our precision specimens can be optionally supplied with a traceable certificate which states the results of measurements of the profile of that specimen and the conditions under which it was made.
